Hey Reader, Have you seen the conversations and discourse around AI fliers online?? The AI-generated fliers floating around everywhere. The fonts that do not quite fit. The colors that are almost right. The copy that sounds like a robot doing its very best impression of a human being. But every single time, they tell on themselves. My biggest peeve about them is that it's just too many words forced on the page. Here is the thing about that conversation, though. Most people are focused on how the fliers look. I want to talk about what they represent, because the flier is not really the problem. The problem is a much bigger pattern of handing AI the wheel on things it has no business driving.Like those Waymo cars... but I digress. There are places in your business where AI genuinely earns its keep. Tedious tasks, first drafts, summarizing long documents, brainstorming when you are stuck. It is a solid productivity tool when you use it that way. But there are things you should keep your hands firmly on, and I want to name a few of them here:Your brand voice and creative direction. AI can resemble your voice. It cannot replicate it. Your brand is built on your personality, your values, and the specific way you show up for your people. A resemblance will always fall a little flat, and your audience will feel it even if they cannot name it. Your client relationships. The trust your clients have in you is personal. You built it through real conversations, real accountability, and real problem-solving. That should not get outsourced. Your expertise. This one is important. AI can help you do your job better. It CANNOT give you a job you are not qualified to do. Using it to produce work in areas where you don't have the knowledge or experience to back it up isn't a productivity move. It is a trust issue waiting to happen. The AI fliers are just the most visible version of a much bigger conversation about how we are using these tools and why it matters. I wrote a full post that gets into all of it, including where AI actually does earn its keep and a quick gut check you can run before you use it for anything in your business. Check out the things you should 1000 percent be using AI for in your business here. Until next time, |
